Australis Matte Out Mattifying Face Base

Since my spending ban has ended, I've been picking up a few new release products that I've been eyeing off - Australis Matte Out Mattifying Face Base being one of them! Australis have been really belting out some fabulous products recently, so I'm really excited by this one!

I have fairly oily skin and have to constantly retouch with setting powder to keep the oiliness under control! I've been searching for the perfect primer that stops this oil, and so of course the Australis Matte Out sounded perfect! Because not only does my oily face look disgusting, it also melts away my make-up to leave me with a not-so-perfect look, so starting beneath my makeup seems like the perfect solution.

The Australis Matte Out is supposed to be used beneath your normal primer wherever you are most oily (such as your T-Zone) to help absorb any oil. It's also supposed to help even out skin tone, so it's like a primer for your primer!

A purple stick of product? Not really what I was expecting when I opened it!

I ended up applying this all over my face (because sadly, my whole face is prone to oiliness!) and I found it actually worked wonders. The product was really lightweight, and really did help even out my skin tone before I even applied primer! I considered skipping out on primer altogether but figured I'd give it the full effect and still use my primer like normal, and I'm happy I did. I had pristine and almost perfect make-up all day! I still had to touch up a few times, but I'm really not complaining. Being in stick form, it's super easy to apply, and really quick if you're in a hurry - so there's no excuse to skip it!

--

I'm super pleased that I talked myself into buying this. The Australis Matte Out is my new favourite toy, and I don't do my makeup without it! I've found that this has really made a difference to my every day look, and has made me feel a lot more confident! My skin has been really clear lately, but the oiliness is still there, so this really helps combatant that (especially if I'm just wearing BB cream!) I would definitely recommend using this if you have the same problems I do, and for only $13.95, this is an absolute steal!

Have you tried the Australis Matte Out Mattifying Face Base yet? If so, what did you think?

  13. I didn't think this product would be that fantastic but that's great news that it works!
My once oily skin is now kinda dry so I probably won't be picking this up. Too bad, because it looks so fun to use a purple stick all over your face haha.

Is it really creamy? Does it go on clear onto your face or purple? :P

    1. Haha it's not too creamy, but it's soft so it's not hard to put on! It goes on clear luckily haha!
I'm not sure if I'd prefer to have oily or dry skin, maybe dry because it seems easier to manage? Haha but yes it is fun to use this :P

    1. Oh really? To be honest, I haven't seen it at all since I bought it, so it must either be really popular, or hardly anybody is stocking it! Hopefully you find it and it goes well with your cream! xx

  16. Did it break you out ? Or think it may cause break outs? I'm skeptical about trying new things on my face bcos I'm acne prone

    1. This one didn't break me out at all, in fact it's helped keep my oily skin at bay. I can't say for sure if it could case breakouts as everyone's skin is different, but it's definitely worth giving it a go at least once. Hopefully it works for you :)

  18. I bought this last week trying to find a purple based primer at Priceline. This was the closest thing I found. I don't have oily skin (normal to dry) but I decided to try it anyway for colour correcting purposes (purple negates yellow/sallow tones). I'm pretty pleased with it. I put it on after my moisturiser/before my Smashbox primer and it seems to help the primer do its job better. For a $12 product, that's not bad (especially considering the purple colour correcting Smashbox primer is $55AUD! Ouch!).

  19. What primer did you use over it? I have very oily skin as well and I'm in need of a good primer.

    1. I use a bunch of different primers with this one, but my favourite is the Australis one :) xx
