Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation *

SM1

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Rimmel London, particularly the Stay Matte powder. So you can imagine my delight when I noticed the Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation in stores!

I absolutely adore the design! It's really eye catching and cute! At first, I thought this itty bitty 30ml tube was in fact the tester, but rest assured 30ml is more than enough! Fair Ivory is the lightest shade in a range of eight available to use here in Australia.

Rimmel London claims that their newest foundation is feather-light, and has a lightweight texture that won't feel heavy or greasy. Now, unfortunately I do have to disagree with Rimmel on this one. This is definitely one of the thickest foundations I've used, and is more mousse than liquid. I wouldn't say this is lightweight at all, and some bloggers I've talked to have even found this to be a bit heavy on their skin.

I would say that the Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation has a medium to high coverage, depending on how you use it, and does have a tendency to look cakey if you aren't careful.

1; no makeup. 2; half face. 3; full face. 4; finished face.

As you can see, the coverage is pretty decent and it certainly covers all of my redness and majority of my blemishes. Personally, I find this to be really nice on my skin, and not too heavy at all. I do use a very tiny amount though, about the size of a pea for each side of my face, and find that it does a wonderful job.

I found that Fair Ivory is even fairly light for my skin, and I could even benefit from choosing a slightly darker colour for the warmer months!

Application wise I find this pretty easy, I use either my fingers or a buffing brush to get it even. I do find it cakes a little bit, even with an extremely light application, so a finishing powder is a must! In terms of lasting power, I do find this goes all day without fading too much, but on hot days it does have the tendency to melt a little bit, so probably not the foundation you want for those 40 degree heat days, ladies!

Overall I was pretty pleased with this foundation. I've read very mixed reviews, but in terms of my skin and the coverage I'm looking for, I was impressed. Yes, it has a tendency to be cakey, and yes, it's not as lightweight on the skin as liquid foundations. But this would be a great contender for a nice night out or a special event!

The Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation is available in 8 shades, and will set you back about $14.95 for a 30ml tube.

Have you tried the Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation yet? If so, what did you think?
