Beat The Heat: Skincare

w6

This summer has been a bit of a scorcher, so it's a no brainer that I've been using up a bunch of products to try and ease my journey through summer. One issue that I always have in the hot weather is chafing. Chafing is irritation of the skin caused by repetitive friction; and it's often made worse by sweat and heat. I'm sure that everyone reading this has experienced chafing in one way or another, so I've decided to share a few of my favourite products to help ease the symptoms of chafing.

I've chosen four of the major products that I've been using recently to help my chafing. Each of them I use in different situations and for different types of chafing or skin irritation, and all of them are easy to find and buy.

Holika Holika Aloe Soothing Gel

Aloe Vera is an extremely common treatment for skin problems. As a child, I always grew up with Aloe Vera plants, and would always chop off a leaf if I had any kind of skin problem. As an adult, out of home, I do actually own an Aloe Vera plant, but rarely turn to it. Instead, I turn to this Aloe Soothing Gel. (While the actual plant would probably be better for you, it can be a bit trickier and messier than a pre-packaged gel.) I rely on the Aloe Gel particularly for my leg chafing (particularly my thunder thighs) and it works a treat. Although it can be a little bit sticky, it works extremely well to sooth all irritation. The Holika Holika brand might be a bit hard to get a hold of in Australia, but there are plenty of alternatives available on the market.

NS-8 Foot & Leg Moisturiser

There's nothing worse than razor burn, especially in the warmer weather. Since I'm shaving my legs a lot more often then I would be in the cooler seasons, my skin can get a bit sensitive. It's really important to make sure to moisturise when your skin is so sensitive. I find that this particular moisturiser is really lightweight and works really well at keeping my skin soft and smooth, and protected from any razor burn.

Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturising Cream with Cooling Action
Summer time always means sandals, thongs, or bare feet. The heat always leaves my feet all cracked and dry, which can be pretty disgusting. I find that the Aveeno Skin Relief cream can really help to keep those cracked heels under control. This is also a great all-rounder cream for any other kind of skin irritation, including chafing, eczema, sun burnt skin and even razor burn.

Nude by Nature Pawpaw Ointment

Am I the only person who goes to the beach, covers myself in sunscreen but somehow still gets sun burnt on my lips? No, okay good. Pawpaw ointment is absolute heaven on sun burnt lips and can really help the healing process. Even if your lips aren't burnt but do get chapped, it's also really helpful for that. I also find that Pawpaw ointment can really help with mosquito bites; something else extremely frustrating come summer time. (I'm not too sure why the spelling on the tub is different, but oh well!)

This was just four of my favourite products to use during summer, I may decide to share a few more in other products later on. Summer can be really frustrating to survive, so hopefully these products can help you out. Have you tried any of the above products? If so, what are your favourites?
