Dusty Girls: Complexion Products*

Dusty Girls Complexion Products Review & Swatches - Sweetaholic Beauty

A little while ago I was contacted by an Aussie company called Dusty Girls. Based in Queensland, they specialise in creating natural mineral cosmetics with ingredients that actually promote healthy skin. Being a country girl at heart, a lot of the brands ethics and ideals hit very close to home for me.

Created with the idea that your skin always looks better after a day spent in the country, the Dusty Girls developed this range of cosmetics using natural clays and minerals of the earth. They originally designed their range for people with troubled or sensitive skin, but work well for those of us who want natural ingredients on our skin.

I was sent two beautiful complexion products; the Dusty Girls Tinted Earth Cream ($18.50) and the Dusty Girls Natural Mineral Blush. ($25.00)

The Dusty Girls Natural Mineral Blush in Pink Ladies was my first choice. The beautiful blush pink was too pretty to pass up. Although you may not be able to see it in my photo, but there are very slight shimmer particles - they don't really transfer onto your skin too much though, aside from giving you a nice, natural glow.

The Dusty Girls Tinted Earth Cream is basically like a tinted moisturiser, but a little bit more than that. I opted for the lightest shade available. They've ensured that this is silicone free, which means even those with the most sensitive skin issues should be able to use this one. The Earth Cream contains Manuka Tree leaf oil, Nigella Sativa Oil, Magnolia Acuminata extract and Chaulmoogra Tree Seed oil; oils that help to smooth your skin and help reduce acne. This product is said to be a replacement for moisturiser, sunscreen and foundation.

Natural Mineral Blush in Pink Ladies, Earth Cream in Light

As you can see, Pink Ladies is incredibly pigmented. Being an all natural brand, I was not expecting a whole lot out of the blush. The colour payoff really did shock me. Even on my cheeks, one quick swipe was all I needed for that perfect natural glow. A light hand is definitely needed when applying this baby.

The Earth Cream was not too dark or too orange, which also surprised me. One thing I noticed about this one is that it went dry very quickly, so a swift hand is needed when blending this into the skin. It had a lovely matte finish too.

No makeup / Half makeup / Full makeup

As you can see from the pictures above the coverage is medium at best. It covered a lot of my pigmentation and uneven skintone, but not my freckles or red spots as much, so a concealer may be needed for a fuller coverage. One thing I noticed when applying the Earth Cream is that it was fairly odd to work with. Odd in a good way - it blended into the skin rather easily, but you did need to work quickly as it set in the skin fast. It had a very different texture to anything else I've tried before, and felt very natural. Almost like applying a clay mask. In saying that, however, it felt very light on the skin after application.

Personally I think the Earth Cream makes an excellent tinted moisturiser and is a great choice for a quick every day look. Alternatively it makes an excellent primer, as it finishes matte, it helps more product really stick to it to create a long lasting finish for a full foundation. I actually really like the Earth Cream.

Even though I had never heard of Dusty Girls before, I'm really pleased that I had the opportunity to try out some of their products. Both products surpassed my expectations of a mineral makeup product; and have made their way into my every day routines. (I've been using the blush non-stop and the Earth Cream as a skin smoother before foundation.)

Have you tried any of the Dusty Girls products before? If so, what are your thoughts? Would you consider using this brand?
