Australis Cosmetics AC Gems Limited Edition Velourlips Collection

Australis Cosmetics AC Gems Limited Edition Velourlips Collection Review & Swatches - Sweetaholic Beauty

A few months ago, one of my favourite Aussie brands Australis Cosmetics, released four new shades of their awesome Velourlips lippies. Before I launch into my review, I'm well aware that a lot of people don't actually like the Velourlips and that's absolutely fine. I have almost every shade released and am a huge fan of them, so I'll say that upfront I do like the formula, the smell and all the rest of it. This post here is to show off the four new limited edition shades, and what I think of them rather than a full review on the Velourlips as a whole. If you do want a full review, you can check out my original thoughts here.

The four shades are Full Moon-Stone, Quartz and All, Em-Ruled City, and To-Paz or Not To-Paz. Australis have kept with the theme of overly complicated shade names, but that doesn't worry me too much. One thing you'll notice about this collection is the out-there shades. White, green and blue are not exactly your everyday drugstore shades. I was pretty excited to see a local brand take on some daring colours.

It took me a few weeks to hunt down all the shades, as most stores had sold out by the time I got wind of the collection. The hardest shade to find was Quartz and All; probably being that it's the most wearable and neutral shade out of the four. I went through about four stores until I found it.

Swatches:
Full Moon-Stone, Quartz and All, Em-Ruled City, To-Paz or Not To-Paz.

I was impressed with the pigmentation of these shades. After swatching I could see why Quartz and All was such a winner with the general public, as it truly is a gorgeous shade. I was particularly taken by To-Paz or Not To-Paz, which is the stunning deep blue.

Swatches: Full Moon-Stone, Quartz and All, Em-Ruled City, To-Paz or Not To-Paz.

My lip swatches are not amazing, so I do apologise. Full Moon-Stone was probably the most difficult to work with, as it did apply slightly sheer at first, but was able to be built up. I think this will make a great mixer shade for other liquid lip products and can't wait to start mixing. The other shades were incredibly easy to manage - even for a terrible lip swatcher lip myself - and looked gorgeous once applied. I was surprised at how wearable the darker shades were.

Overall, I'm a big fan of this collection. Whilst the shades may be intimidating at first, once you give them a go they're surprisingly easy to work with. Girls with darker skin tones will find the green and blue shades especially flattering.

Have you tried the Australis Cosmetics AC Gems Limited Edition Velourlips? If so, what are your thoughts? Which shade is your favourite?
