Boots Laboratories Optiva Skincare Two Week Trial*

Boots Laboratories Optiva Skincare Two Week Trial - Sweetaholic Beauty

A few weeks ago,  I was asked if I wanted to try out the Boots Laboratories Optiva Skincare range. I've tried a few bits and pieces in the past, so of course I jumped at the chance. I was also almost out of my current skincare range, so this was perfect timing to try something new.

According to Boots Laboratories, the Optiva range doesn't just hydrate your skin, but actually helps form a stronger barrier to keep moisture in. They claim with the help of these products, specifically the Aqua-Capture Serum, you'll have healthier looking skin in just two weeks. So, I decided to do a two-week trial and share my results.

The first product that caught my eye was the Skin Balancing Cleanser. I love a good cleanser as they are always easy to integrate into my routine and usually I don't hate them. The Skin Balancing Cleanser was interesting, to say the least. The instructions say to apply to your face, and then wipe off with a dry cotton pad. I tried this way, as well removing with water. For me personally, this cleanser did an average job at removing my makeup. I definitely needed to double cleanse. However, it left my skin feeling very moisturised and soft which is a plus. At the end of the day, the Skin Balancing Cleanser is probably something I wouldn't continue using, only because it didn't do a whole lot for me aside from the basics. If you suffer from dry skin then this may be a cleanser to try out.

My favourite product out of the entire pack was the Radiance Refresh Tonic, which is essentially a toner. I was met with a gorgeous fresh scent when I opened the bottle and first applied it. The brand describes itself as being unscented but it has its own distinct smell, which is very pleasant. The instructions advise to soak a cotton pad and apply directly to the skin. I usually love a spray toner as it takes out half the work, but I really enjoyed applying this. After use, my skin felt refreshed and soft. The Radiance Refresh Tonic will be continuing on with my usual skincare routine.

I'm not a huge fan of serums as I always get confused about when to use it, but once I start using them I change my mind. I've been applying the Aqua-Capture Serum every day, and my skin has been loving it. Much like the toner, the scent was very pleasant. I found I only need the tiniest amount of product to cover my face, as the serum spreads easily. It absorbs super quickly too, leaving my skin ready for the next step. I will be continuing on with the Aqua-Capture Serum as I do feel like my skin is benefiting from it.

A product I was pleasantly surprised with was the Daily Protection Cream. A day cream that also contains SPF15 which is always a plus in my books. I found this cream absorbed rather quickly and left me with a really nice glow. I will most likely be continuing on with the Daily Protection Cream as I have run out of my usual day cream, and this one hasn't broken me out.

I am a big fan of night creams, so I was excited to find the Nourishing Night Cream as part of this range. This particular cream is fairly thick but goes on like a dream, and absorbs as quickly as the other products. At first, there was nothing that jumped out at me with this cream, but after using it for two weeks I realised I was waking up with more radiant skin than ever. I usually wake up a bit oily, but after using the Nourishing Night Cream, my skin looks and feels great. I'll be continuing on with this one, too.

So, after two weeks of using these products almost exclusively - I say almost as I did use a facial scrub here and there when needed - I have to say I'm loving the range. Although I think you don't need all the products to achieve these results, some of these are definitely winners. My favourites were the Radiance Refresh Tonic, the Aqua-Capture Serum and the Nourishing Night Cream. I'll still be using all the products in my everyday routine aside from the cleanser, which I will keep for a rainy day when my skin is feeling dry. So to wrap things up - yes, I believe the Boots Laboratories Optiva Skincare range did indeed give me healthier looking skin within two weeks.
