John Frieda Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner

Hey guys! Usually I use "salon" hair products, but after getting the free Hair Care bag from Priceline, I decided to give the John Frieda Smooth Start Hydrating shampoo a try! I used the $3 coupon for John Frieda products and picked up the conditioner to go with it. (There's something about using different brands that I just can't do! I know, obsessive compulsive! Plus I wanted to test it's effectiveness!)

My hair is not generally frizzy, however it does tend to get annoying fly-aways every now and then. So my thoughts prior to using this? Well, it will either ease the fly-aways, or it'll just be a nice shampoo & conditioner combo. Or worst case scenario, it won't be for me. But let's find out what I thought AFTER trying it...

I'll start with the shampoo. Right away I'm in love with John Frieda packaging. All of this packaging, not just this one. There is no unncessary pictures or colours, it's so simply and elegant, and it really does give off the salon quality for drug store prices! This particular series of products is supposed to be for "extra dry hair" which is the complete opposite of my hair, which is more like "extra oily hair." Disgusting, I know. But I figured I'd try it out anyway.

Firstly, before even using the stuff, I'm in love with the smell! I think I like most shampoo smells to be honest, but I really love this one! The texture of the shampoo is really slick and lovely, and very easy to work through my hair, more like a serum than a thick shampoo, which again really brings out that salon quality! Usually with shampoo, my hair gets ultra knotty and I use the conditioner to smooth things out, but this shampoo was so lightweight and easy, that my hair didn't knot at all!

The conditioner has an even nicer smell than the shampoo! Much like the shampoo, the texture is very slick and not as thick as most conditioners. It's very, very easy to work through the hair and washes out incredibly easy too! I've had some conditioners that take a whole five minutes just to wash out! I love a good shower, but that can be ridiculous if you're in a rush! This one comes out really easy, and again, like the shampoo, really gives that salon feeling!

So, did this combination give me "100% flawless, frizz-free hair, from start to finish?"

Short answer: YES!

Long answer:
Although I used a shampoo and conditioner meant for extra dry hair, it did not in fact make my hair any oilier than usual, which is certainly a plus! As I said before many times, it truly did give me the salon feel, and it left my hair feeling refreshed and very clean! There were far less knots than usual, as I like to leave my messy hair dry naturally before putting a brush to it - which is usually hell with all the knots I get!
Even after one application I found my hair had far less fly-aways than usual and was much sleeker and silkier, and much more manageable. So basically; I can't rave about this enough! I loved it!

I'm very curious to try the other products associated with this particular series, I believe there is a serum to use to create the perfect frizz-free hair that I'd love to try!

If you're interested in trying this out, the shampoo and conditioner usually retail for about $15.99 each, which is certainly a nice change from paying $35.00 a bottle on salon quality hair-care!

Have you tried these hair products? If so, what did you think?
