I absolutely love wearing makeup, and I love it even more when my makeup stays put for the entire day! But, I don't love it when said makeup is difficult to remove! I'm a huge fan of the Essence Gel Liners (see my previous review here) and anybody who has used that before knows how hard it is to actually remove!
So, I've been testing out the Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover, and I just had to share my results!
First, let's talk about my thoughts prior to actually using the eye makeup remover! The bottle is not overly large, which means it's really travel-friendly. The lid is a screw on lid, and not a flip top, which also means no leaking! This is always a plus for me. The scent is also really lovely and neutral and is not strong in the slightest. So far, so good.
Neutrogena boasts an eye makeup remover that gently removes any makeup, even waterproof mascara, without any tugging or stinging - and without leaving any oily residue. That's a lot to live up to!
After using this the very first time, I was impressed. I found that even the hardest of makeup (Yes, I'm still talking about the Essence Gel Liners!) removed easily enough, with very minimal tugging. I don't usually wear waterproof mascara, but I tested it out and I was pleasantly surprised at how easily the mascara came off!
The greatest part about this product is that you don't need to use a lot of it. A little goes a long way in this case, which means you won't be using up a whole bottle in a week!
Unfortunately, I would not 100% agree with the fact that it does not leave any oily residue. I know that this is an oil-free makeup remover, however, there is a slightly greasy residue left over. So if you do plan on using this, I would definitely cleanse my face afterwards, or at least flush my skin with warm water to get rid of any kind of residue.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the effects of the Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover. The product does exactly what it says it does and is very easy to remove. The scent and feel of the makeup remover are flawless, with absolutely no stinging at all for my poor sensitive eyes - which is always a plus for those of you who share the same affliction!
I will definitely be buying this one again as soon as I finish this bottle, as it's so soft and works wonders on my eyes! Never again will I wake up in the morning to find the remains of last night's eyeliners (Yes.. looking at you again, Essence Gel Liner!)
Have you tried the Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover? If so, what did you think?

I need to try those Essence Gel Liners! I love this make-up remover, I did a review on this too. It works wonders for water-proof mascara! :) You should try the Maybelline make-up remover too! That works amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely should give them a go! But yes, this one really does work wonders! I'll keep an eye out for the Mayelline, but will have to wait for my spending ban to end :P haha
DeleteMost drug store brands of makeup removers that aren't all-natural make my eyes itch (allergic). Especially if they come in wipe form rather than a liquid. Same happened when I used this stuff :(
ReplyDeleteAw that's a shame :(
DeleteIf you don't like greasy residues but want a good clean, perhaps try makeup wipes? I've been using makeup removers like this one for ages and recently discovered wipes that take off even the toughest of eye liners (like the one you use from essence)!
ReplyDeleteIt's great it worked out for you! The perfect makeup remover is out there somewhere!

I use wipes religiously for removing excess makeup, but I find they aren't really strong enough to remove every trace of gel liners or liquid liners. I like the idea of a deep clean, so I usually go wipes, makeup remover, then cleanser and I feel a lot better haha!
DeleteBut thanks for the suggestion :)
It's definitely out there somewhere haha!
xx
It removes the ESSENCE GEL EYELINER?
ReplyDeleteThat definitely is a tick in my books.
And I always cleanse my face after removing makeup anyway so I might give this a go :)
Have you tried the Maybelline Clean express makeup remover?
It DOES! Haha I was shocked!
DeleteI haven't tried the Maybelline one as yet, but people keep telling me to try it, so I'll have to give it a go after I use this one up!
xx
I love this makeup remover it is my all time favorite loved your review on it!

ReplyDeleteKayte @ imminentbeauty.blogspot.com.au
I actually had the same problem with the Garnier one, it just didn't seem to do the job!
DeleteI tried this, but didn't get on with it at all, it broke my skin out :( So now I use the no7 hot cloth cleanser to get my make up off
ReplyDeleteA little bit Unique

Ah that's a shame... a shame we don't have no7 here in Aus

This remover is pretty good!! I quite like it and it does the same job as some higher end brands.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it's definitely one of the better drugstore ones :)
DeleteI've tried this but wasn't a huge fan.

I've tried it and though I like the product the wide necked bottle is an issue for me - I'm forever spilling things!!
ReplyDeleteI agree, it's a bit of a spillage issue! I've spilled it a few times lol!
