Blog Goals - 2016

Blog Goals of 2016 - Sweetaholic Beauty

We're almost there - Happy New Year!

This past year has been a trying and stressful one, but it's also been filled with some lovely memories. I have big plans for 2016 and can't wait to see what the New Year will bring.

A few things I'm expecting this year...

My sister will be welcoming her first son later on in January. This means I will be becoming an aunt for the very first time, and I am beyond excited. I can't wait to spoil my little nephew with love.

I'm rebranding Sweetaholic Beauty. I've already organised to get a brand new site template and I am excited and scared all at once. This should be happening in early January or whenever I get the time to sit down and get things moving. My writing style and photography style won't be changing, though, as I actually like where I am with that.

Blog Goals of 2016 - Sweetaholic Beauty

So what are my goals?

As this year has been so crazy, specifically with my partner being in and out of hospital a few times, I've really disappointed myself in terms of scheduling posts. In the past year, I'd basically planned my posts in my head, but never executed them until the day I was meant to upload them. Not this year - this year I am scheduling my posts ahead of time so I can put more effort and time into my actual content, without missing out on important things in life. Expect to see a more regular content from me this year.

New Years Eve Manicure

New Years Eve Manicure - Sweetaholic Beauty

The past few years I really haven't bothered much with New Years Eve. This could be because I'm getting older, my partner hasn't been well, and other life events. This year is not really an exception, as my partner is still not well, and life is still happening. I'm actually working on New Years Eve this year, but thankfully finishing at 8:00pm. I work in the city, and since it's probably going to be impossible to get home, I decided to just stay in the city and am having a few friends meet me for dinner and a quiet one.

That being said, I thought I might try and get into the festivities a bit and do my nails. I created this super easy, yet awesome looking manicure and I just had to share it.

New Years Eve Manicure - Sweetaholic Beauty

I only used two shades for this look, Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Blacky-O and Zoya in Electra. I also finished off the manicure with the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel top coat to seal it all in. Zoya is not readily available in Australia sadly, but Electra is a pretty standard glitter polishes so there are lots of dupes available.

Hair & Me Hair Rejuvenation Treatment*

Hair & Me Hair Rejuvenation Treatment Review - Sweetaholic Beauty

A few months ago, I was sent the Hair & Me Hair Rejuvenation Treatment to try out. I'd been following Hair & Me for some time on Instagram and noticed that a fair few bloggers were loving their stuff, so when it was my turn, I was pretty thrilled.

Unless you've been living under a rock the past year, you'll have noticed that these kinds of hair treatments have become all the rage on Instagram and blogs alike, yet this was my first try of anything like this.

Hair & Me Hair Rejuvenation Treatment Review - Sweetaholic Beauty

Let's start with the packaging. Now it's a nifty idea and it makes it super travel friendly, but I'll admit I do have a little trouble getting the actual product out. I feel like I have to squish the packaging really hard to get anything out of it, and the results can be sketchy. I find this with all packaging like this, not just from this brand, so it's nothing against this one in particular. I do like that it's pink though - definitely makes it more appealing somehow.

I Am Juicy Couture Eau de Parfum Review*

I Am Juicy Couture Eau de Parfum Review - Sweetaholic Beauty

I've been fairly lazy this year with my fragrances - particularly newer fragrances. Although I'm a collector, I tend to use the same ones again and again and neglect newer bottles. In 2016, I plan on changing this. I've already begun, with cracking open the beautiful I Am Juicy Couture Eau de Parfum that was gifted to me a short while ago.

I Am Juicy Couture Eau de Parfum Review - Sweetaholic Beauty

This is my very first Juicy Couture fragrance, and I wasn't too sure what to expect. When I think of Juicy Couture, my heart is torn. Despite the fact the brand is so well known and actually rather beautiful, fake products tend to attract a not so classy crowd.

In saying that though, I think the design is actually very pretty, albeit a tad ostentatious. Juicy Couture describes this fragrance as being directed at independent, non-apologetic and rebellious girls. I feel like they really nailed it.

The Christmas Beauty Tag

The Christmas Beauty Tag - Sweetaholic Beauty

I don't generally do tags anymore, as I feel like I have done most of them within my first year of blogging when I was struggling with content ideas. However I was recently tagged by the gorgeous Jackie from JackieMellorMUA to share my answers for The Christmas Beauty Tag, and it looked like so much fun I just had to do it. So, on with the questions...

The Christmas Beauty Tag - Sweetaholic Beauty

Have you been naughty or nice with your skincare this year?

Personally I like to think I've been very nice. My skin has been looking better than ever, to the point where I am incredibly comfortable leaving the house with no makeup on if I really need to. Obviously there is still room for improvement, but I've definitely made progress. I've experimented with a few different types of products this year, and made the effort to stick to a routine that works well for me.

Bloggers United AU Kris Kringle Swap - Sweetaholic Beauty

A little while ago, Bloggers United AU hosted a Kris Kringle swap. I love Kris Kringle swaps as they are so much fun. It's a great way to meet new bloggers and hopefully new friends. I received a huge parcel from Sophie from Born to Buy; a gorgeous blogger who I am actually friends with in real life. (I can actually say that as I have met and stayed at her house!) I'm pretty sure she spoilt me, so let's get on to the presents!

Christmas with Lush Cosmetics - Sweetaholic Beauty

With only ten more days until Christmas, I'm getting pretty excited. I haven't done any of my Christmas shopping and I've only just put up my Christmas tree - this year has really crept up on me. One of my favourite things about Christmas is Lush Cosmetic's limited edition holiday range. They always come out with the most amazing creations and always seem to make the festive season more exciting.

I was lucky enough to be sent a few things from the Christmas range for a sneak peek. I also popped into the store and grabbed a few of my favourites too; although some of them didn't make to my blog post. Oops.

I still can't believe it's December already. With December comes Christmas, and with Christmas comes some amazing gift sets from cosmetic brands. I was lucky enough to receive some gorgeous products from budget brand Colour Theory.

For those of you unfamiliar with Colour Theory, they are an incredibly wallet-friendly brand available from leading chemists. From what I've noticed, they are relatively new but have pleasantly surprised me.

This year I'm showing you two stunning limited edition gift sets, and some of their new Jumbo Lip Crayons that are actually part of their permanent line, but would still make lovely gifts.

Rosehip Plus Organic Daily Cream Cleanser Review - Sweetaholic Beauty

A little while ago, I was sent the new Rosehip Plus Organic Daily Cream Cleanser to try out. Usually I don't go for the cream cleansers, but I gave it a go in the name of science. Also I adore Rosehip oil so I figured that this would probably be - hopefully be - just as good.

The Perfect Red: Nails - Sweetaholic Beauty

Can you believe it's December already? My partner and I have had an awful year, so I'm really looking forward to the excitement of Christmas. To get things kicked off this year, I was considering the perfect red polish to wear for the big day. Whilst trying to decide for myself, I decided to share my top five picks for the perfect red nails.

I couldn't decide between finishes, so I ended up with a glitters, creams and shimmers. Surprisingly I ignored the matte finish - but hey it's Christmas. I want my nails to shine!

Best of: Rosehip Oil

Best of: Rosehip Oil - Sweetaholic Beauty

In my teenage years and my early adulthood, I suffered from incredibly oily skin. I tried everything I could think of to reduce the oil, including scrubs and toners and all kinds of product to help "dry out" my skin. Little did I know, this was one of the worst things I was doing to my skin. My skin was working overtime to produce even more oil, as I was tricking my skin into thinking it was too dry. Good job, past self.

Since then I've changed my ways, and I've discovered that treating my skin right would help keep that oil under control. I grew to love using Rosehip oil on my skin to help regulate it's oil production. Who knew using oil to help stop my skin getting oily would actually work?

I've tried a few different Rosehip oils since my discovery, so I thought I would share three personal favourites of mine.

I ended up with seven new products to try, and I seriously felt like a kid at a candy store.

Priceline Your Summer of Skincare Bag

Priceline Your Summer of Skincare Bag - Sweetaholic Beauty

A little while ago, Priceline was hosting yet another awesome gift-with-purchase. Usually we see three gift with purchase bags a year - skincare, beauty and hair care. This year they have released this super cool bag called Your Summer of Skincare. The usual skincare bag was already released back in June (you can read my review here) but this one is a tad different.

PPriceline Your Summer of Skincare Bag - Sweetaholic Beauty

The bag itself is not exactly my style. It's plastic and a tad see-through, so I'll probably use this for a beach bag. Usually they use Model's Prefer bags but this one is just a regular Priceline brand.

Covergirl Cosmetics Star Wars Colorlicious Lipstick Collection Review & Swatches

The giant nerd in me was incredibly excited when I heard that Covergirl was releasing a Star Wars collection and I knew that I had to grab at least a few bits and pieces. I decided to grab the four Colorlicious lipsticks as I'm a little bit addicted to lip products.

Covergirl Cosmetics Star Wars Colorlicious Lipstick Collection Review & Swatches

There are four shades available in the collection. I was super disappointed to find that the lipsticks did not have names, however when I looked up the collection online, they actually do but they just aren't printed on the actual tubes which I found strange.

I actually like the packaging of this collection. I was expecting the packaging to look tacky, but I think it's done pretty well.

Fizzy Lizzy Bath Halloween Pack Haul

Fizzy Lizzy Bath Halloween Pack Haul - Sweetaholic Beauty

Every day is Halloween to me, so when Fizzy Lizzy Bath released a super duper limited edition Halloween pack, I just couldn't resist. Just in time for the spooky day, these goodies arrived mostly undamaged (just two didn't survive the trip but that's okay, they still work just the same.) Since Halloween I've had the chance to try a few of them, so I thought I would share my haul and some first impressions.

Donut Frankenbomb in Froot Loops

Sadly this one did not survive shipping, but it smelt amazing anyway. Being that it smelt just like Froot Loops, I had to try it out. It made my bath smell incredibly yummy and look oh so pretty.

Haunted House Bomb in Toffee Apple

This one smells just like Halloween to me. Delicious toffee apple makes me think of the spooky season and really makes me wish Australia celebrated Halloween more. I'm so excited to try this one out but I'm saving it for a nice cool evening.

Natura Siberica Maximum Volume Oblepikha Shampoo & Conditioner Review*

Natura Siberica Maximum Volume Oblepikha Shampoo & Conditioner Review

A little while ago, I received a few products from newly launched range Natura Siberica. If you haven't heard of this brand just yet, it's an all natural brand direct from Siberia, hence the name. (Clever, see what I did there?) The package I received was full of pine cones and leaves, and it was just gorgeous. Except when you think it's too gorgeous to throw out and you forget about it and the leaves die. Oops. Still pretty, though.

Two of the products I wanted to review today was the Natura Siberica Maximum Volume Oblepikha Shampoo & Conditioner. I'm going to be honest and tell you that I had no idea what Oblepikha is, but a quick Google search tells me it is some kind of Siberian berry. Pretty cool.

Natura Siberica Maximum Volume Oblepikha Shampoo & Conditioner Review

I was pretty impressed with these bottles. The packaging alone is to die-for, and when I discovered this range is available in Chemist Warehouse of all places (I was expecting really high end stores) I was pretty delighted. Especially as their entire range is fairly cost effective and nothing goes over $40.

Again I'm going to be honest with you. When I first smelt these products, I did not like the scent at all. It was incredibly natural smelling - which I suppose is to be expected - and it really jumped up my nose. I'll admit this did put me off a little, but things changed when I started using the products themselves.

Halloween Swap with The Sunday Mode

Halloween Swap with The Sunday Mode - Sweetaholic Beauty

This Halloween I had the pleasure of swapping with two lovely bloggers through the Bloggers United AU Halloween Swap, the first one being JoJo's Beauty (which you can read all about here) and of course the gorgeous Julia from The Sunday Mode. She was so lovely to swap with and turns out we're actually from around the same area of Melbourne! It would have been fun to meet up and exchange but we've both been so busy so we decided to do it the old-fashioned way and posted everything out. I actually love Julia's blog because she writes about pretty much everything - food, fashion, beauty, you name it! Make sure you check out her blog, because you'll be sure to find something you love.

Halloween Swap with The Sunday Mode - Sweetaholic Beauty

Firstly can we just appreciate her packaging for a second there. I seriously felt like it was my birthday for a second when I opened this - I felt so special. It was way too pretty to even open! (Hence my lack of Halloween props in my photography - oops!)

She also wrote me a gorgeous little card detailing why she chose what she did. It was really, really sweet.

Remington Rapid Cut Hair Clipper Review *

Remington Rapid Cut Hair Clipper Review - Sweetaholic Beauty

A little while ago, I was sent the Remington Rapid Cut Hair Clipper to try out. My partner Alex always shaves his head, but he always goes to the barber as we don't have any clippers at home. Since he spent a lot of time in hospital, his hair was starting to look a little out of control. Even when I brought him home, he was still too weak to go out to the barber, so these clippers arrived just in time.

Remington Rapid Cut Hair Clipper Review - Sweetaholic Beauty

The best thing about the Remington Rapid Cut Hair Clipper is that it's a hand held device and designed to be used on yourself. I remember when I was growing up and my father would need his hair shaved, it was always up to my mum to get the clippers out and shave him whilst he sat in the kitchen. Now, you can do it all yourself.

Halloween Swap with Jojo's Beauty - Sweetaholic Beauty

It's almost Halloween and I couldn't be more excited. Those who know me in real life will know I'm an avid horror fan. I find it so sad that Australia doesn't really celebrate Halloween, so I will usually host some kind of Halloween swap. This year, I helped host a swap through Bloggers United AU and was matched up with Joanna from Jojo's Beauty. She was a delight to swap with, and we actually met when I visited Sydney recently, so make sure you check her blog out.

The Timely Treat Subscription Box*

The Timely Treat Review - Sweetaholic Beauty

A little while ago, I was contacted by a lovely little company called The Timely Treat. As you might be able to guess, this is actually a subscription box for your special time of the month. That's right ladies, it's a subscription box for your period. So if this post is a little bit TMI for you - turn back now.

I personally don't get my period as I actually have an Implanon implant in my arm, which has stopped my period, but I obviously know women in my life that I could share this box of goodies with. In saying that, I really wanted to share the contents of the box and how it works with my readers as well, as I think it's just a fantastic idea.

September Empties - Sweetaholic Beauty

Well, thank goodness September is over. September was one of the hardest months in my life. My partner spent a good amount of time in hospital, and so I was incredibly stressed and run down. Somehow, I still managed to use up a fair amount of products.

Weleda Arnica Muscle Soak - Review*

Weleda Arnica Muscle Soak - Review

If you know me, you'll know that the month of September was pretty awful for me. My partner spent a lot of time in hospital and I was actually unwell myself. I was sick and stressed so my muscles were pretty tight and painful.

I received the Weleda Arnica Muscle Soak just in time; and I've already used it on a number of occasions so I thought it would be time to share my thoughts.

Weleda Arnica Muscle Soak - Review

The Weleda Arnica Muscle Soak contains a bunch of amazing products that help you relax, including extracts of Arnica flowers and birch leaves. It also contains lavender and rosemary essential oils; both amazing oils for relaxation.

While it doesn't really smell like much in the bottle, when it's used in the bath it comes alive with a fabulous natural scent. I have to say that I found the scent to be rather unique and refreshing.

Brand Focus: Olive Skincare*

Brand Focus: Olive Skincare - Sweetaholic Beauty

A little while ago, I received a few goodies from brand Olive Skincare. I had never heard of this brand before, so I was pretty excited. Turns out it's a natural skincare brand from New Zealand; and the brand has harnessed the awesome power of olive oil. (Hence the name.)

October Empties

October Empties - Sweetaholic Beauty

October was a long month, but we're finally done with it. We're another glorious month closer to Christmas, and I've made a few positive changes in my life so I will hopefully be ending this year on a high note. I've also gone to part time at work which means more time for blogging - yay!

October Empties - Sweetaholic Beauty

I didn't really use up too many products this month, so hopefully I'll have some more next month.

Halloween Swap with Jojo's Beauty

Halloween Swap with Jojo's Beauty - Sweetaholic Beauty

It's almost Halloween and I couldn't be more excited. Those who know me in real life will know I'm an avid horror fan. I find it so sad that Australia doesn't really celebrate Halloween, so I will usually host some kind of Halloween swap. This year, I helped host a swap through Bloggers United AU and was matched up with Joanna from Jojo's Beauty. She was a delight to swap with, and we actually met when I visited Sydney recently, so make sure you check her blog out.

Firstly I adore her packaging. She made a great effort and I now feel ashamed that my packaging isn't as spooky. I'll be reusing the spider webs and spiders to decorate my desk at work this week!

The Timely Treat Review - Sweetaholic Beauty

Everything is stacked up pretty nicely in the box, and no space is wasted. It's jam packed to the brim with lady items.

September Empties

September Empties - Sweetaholic Beauty

Well, thank goodness September is over. September was one of the hardest months in my life. My partner spent a good amount of time in hospital, and so I was incredibly stressed and run down. Somehow, I still managed to use up a fair amount of products.

EM2

All the products I used up last month. Pretty good considering most of the time I was at my parent's house using their stuff, too!
