Covergirl Ready, Set Gorgeous Foundation

Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation Review & Swatches - Sweetaholic Beauty

Once in a while, I notice a product that seems so hyped up online that I know I just need it in my life. The Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Fresh Complexion Oil Free Foundation (phew, what a mouthful!) is one of those products. I've seen a lot of buzz, particularly o Instagram, surrounding this new Covergirl foundation, so I decided it was time I tried it.

As mentioned in the actual name, this liquid foundation is oil free which makes it suitable for most skin types. I noticed that in Australia, we only have four shades available. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this one - because I really, really wanna be wrong.) Whereas the United States has a whopping 12 shades! I chose 105 which is the lightest shade available, and found it to be perfect for my skin tone.

This foundation is just in a squeeze tub, which makes it super easy to use and control the amount of product. It also means this is safe for travelling as there are no glass bottles to break or drop. One thing I did notice with this foundation however is that it does separate in the packaging - meaning you need to give this a bit of a shake before applying it. Not sure if this is the same with everyone but I've discussed this with a few other bloggers already who have noticed the same thing.

The product itself is fairly wet, and reminds me a lot of BB cream, rather than a foundation. At first I wasn't sure if I liked the idea of that, but once I applied it to my face, all hesitations faded. According to Covergirl, the Ready, Set Gorgeous Foundation  includes a build in powder system that helps fight against shine by pulling oil and sweat away from the face, rather than just covering it all. I'm not exactly sure on the science behind that, but sounds good to me.

No Makeup / Half Face of Foundation
Full Face of Foundation / Finished Face

As you can see, this gives a medium coverage on my face. I suffer from a lot of redness, pigmentation and uneven skin tone; yet the Covergirl Ready, Set Gorgeous Foundation covers all of that fairly well, without making me look like a barbie doll. (Each to their own but I love a natural finish!) I love a foundation that covers everything but still lets my natural beauty (I'm talking beauty marks here) shine through.

I have found that this has helped reduce my shine factor during the day, and my face has remained matte for the most part. Longevity was something that did surprise me. Although I had heard a lot of good reviews on this one, I always feel like my foundation is going to fade away before the end of the day. But, I was pleasantly surprised to see this stay put until the end of my working day, so I didn't look completely like a hideous beast boarding the train after my shift.

This has quickly become one of my favourite foundations for every day use. It stays put, it doesn't make me look oily and it covers my imperfections. All in all, I have to say I'm happy with this one. Although I would like to see more shades introduced to the Aussie market, I am delighted that I have a shade that suits me.

Have you tried the Covergirl Ready, Set Gorgeous Foundation yet? If so, what are your thoughts?
