2015 Favourites

2015 Favourites - Sweetaholic Beauty

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to 2016. This will be my fourth year doing an end of the year favourites post, and I couldn't be more excited. You may have noticed a few changes on the site; unfortunately I am still experiencing a few glitches, but I think the overall feel of the site is a lot cleaner.

This year there were so many new products to test and trial that I had a pretty hard time deciding, and actually spend a few weeks considering products that had really captured me throughout most of the year. Some of these products are fairly newer releases, but have quickly become favourites nonetheless.

2015 Favourites - Sweetaholic Beauty

Maybelline Color Drama Lipsticks

The pencil lip products were a big hit earlier on in the year, which was great for those of us who are generally fairly lazy with our lipsticks. These semi-matte lippies made for the easiest application and came in a pretty large range of gorgeous shades.

NYX Butter Glosses

Okay so I usually dislike glosses. My hair always finds a way to get onto my sticky lips, and it's just not a great time. Luckily these NYX babies are non-sticky and generally pretty pigmented when it comes to applying. NYX has also been released in Australia earlier this year meaning they are way easier to find and buy.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Nude Collection

Yet another Kate Moss collection, they've filled a bit of a market gap and released an entire nude lipstick collection. I jumped all over this pretty quickly, and was delighted to find that their interpretation of nude covered a bigger range of skin tones than just "white." Kudos, Rimmel London. You can read a full review and see swatches here.

2015 Favourites - Sweetaholic Beauty

L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Primer

This primer was loved by almost every beauty blogger I know, and I was actually pretty late to the game on this one. What I love most about this primer is that it has all-day staying power. My makeup doesn't budge an inch when I use this stuff.

L'Oreal Infallible 24H-Matte Foundation

My new favourite high coverage foundation - sister product to the above primer - I'm in love with using both products together. This stuff is one of the best drug-store foundations I've tried in a long time, and I'm incredibly happy I forked out the $30 for this one. You can read my full review and see swatches here.

Williamspro Zero Powder*

This powder is described as the perfect finisher. I was so skeptical when I opened the tub and found a bunch of shimmery powder looking back at me. But I gave this a go anyway and it really blew me away. This gives me such a natural and gorgeous finish, and really helps my makeup stay put all day. As for that sparkly stuff - well that's light reflecting bits that help give you that natural glow. It's not shimmery at all. Big ticks all around and this is happily sitting in my handbag for mid-day emergency touch ups.

2015 Favourites - Sweetaholic Beauty

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Whiskey

I couldn't resist purchasing the entire eye pencil vault from Urban Decay a few years ago, and one of my favourite shades from their entire collection is Whiskey. As I've grown older, I've begun to use a brown eyeliner on my waterline instead of black. I think this gives me a more grown-up look. Stays all day and is the perfect shade.

L'Oreal Super Liner Perfect Slim in Extreme Black

I haven't worn my liquid eyeliner as much this year. This is probably because I've had a lot of time away from work and a lot of time worrying about my partner that I simply haven't bothered much about my every day makeup look. But when I do apply the wings, I found this is such an easy to use and true black liquid liner. It's super thin meaning you can really get those precise lines.

Australis Fierce Eyes Volumising Mascara*

My eyelashes are already pretty thick, and I've been complimented on them on more than a few occasions, but like everyone else I still want them bigger! I was in the search for the perfect false lash effect mascara, and many of them have come very close. But the Australis Fierce Eyes is the easiest and cheapest available, and is oh so perfect for an every day mascara that makes your lashes look out of this world.

2015 Favourites - Sweetaholic Beauty

Chi Chi Bronzes Palette

Last year I fell in love with the Chi Chi Nudes palette, which I still use often. Chi Chi have since released a lot of other palettes, and so I decided to pick up a few. Or more than a few, but we're not here to discuss that. One of the most underrated ones I have found is the Bronzes palette. Stunning olives and browns, this is the perfect summer palette. You can create light day looks as well as gorgeous smoky eye looks.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

I'm all about a shimmery nude eye - and although I have been using this palette ever since it was released, I was loving this through last winter. Rose gold was truly in season this past year, and so the Naked 3 palette had the perfect go-to shades.

2015 Favourites - Sweetaholic Beauty

Australis Contour Kit

I picked this up before they came out with the other versions, but I did try them out in-store and think that this version is still the best for my skintone. I heard a lot of complaints about this particular product, but it was actually one of my favourites. I wasn't much for highlighting or contouring before, and this was a little bit of a gateway into that world for me. You can read my full review and see swatches here.

Benefit Rockateur Blush

When I bought this when it was first released, I was a big disappointed. The colour payoff didn't seem too great, and it just didn't seem to suit me. Then I discovered contouring, and this baby actually went amazingly well with my newly chiselled cheekbones. Hello, gorgeous indeed! My new favourite, I've used this almost every day the past year.

2015 Favourites - Sweetaholic Beauty

Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi*

Summer feet, come at me. I have been using this for about six months now and I'm impressed. My feet are soft and looking good in sandals. Even my partner likes to use this, now. It's a great tool for getting rid of unwanted skin. Quick and easy!

Sigma Beauty Copper Face Brushes*

I received a few of these as I am part of their affiliate program. I purchased a set of Sigma brushes when I first started my blog, and I haven't looked back. My brushes have gotten a lot of use over the years, so it was incredibly refreshing to receive some new ones and remember what they were like in the beginning. (Still just as good!) You can read my review and see some pictures of the original collection I purchased here.

2015 Favourites - Sweetaholic Beauty

L'Oreal Flash Manicure Remover

This is literally the best nail invention in 2015. I can't even express to you how amazing this thing is. Want to remove just one of your nails so you can repaint it a different shade? It used to be a huge pain and you would end up messing up all your nails. Now you just dip it into this little tub and you're good to go.

Liquid Sand Polishes

This year I got fake nails and I've had so much fun keeping them painted and beautiful. I've really been into the liquid sand trend this year, so I just had to feature. Two of my favourites have been OPI Pussy Galore and Zoya Dahlia

2015 Favourites - Sweetaholic Beauty

Rosehip Oil Organic Daily Cream Cleanser

Whilst this has only made it into my regular rotation about 2 months ago, I've been loving it. My skin is already naturally oil, so I thought that an oil based cream cleanser would be the worst for my skin - wrong. This is the best for my skin and helps tricking my body into knowing I have enough oil in my skin and to stop reducing excess oil throughout the day. Since using it for a longer period of time, along with other oil based products, I have found my skins natural balance is returning to normal, rather than oily. Win. You can read my in-depth review here.

Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Pads
This cult product has been popping up on my radar for the better part of the year, so I decided it was finally time I gave them a go. These awesome pads make usage simple as pie, and tend to remove any traces of makeup that might have been missed earlier.

Indeed Laboratories Hydraluron Moisture Booster

As I mentioned earlier, I usually suffer from oily skin, however since using some moisturising products, my skin is beginning to return to normal. Since adding the Hydraluron Moisture Booster to the mix, I'm almost completely happy with my skin.

2015 Favourites - Sweetaholic Beauty

The Body Shop Fijian Water Lotus Fragrance Mist

I was gifted a mini version of this last Christmas, and I totally fell in love with the scent. it became my every day scent, and soon I ended up finishing the bottle. So of course I had to buy the full sized bottle. This fragrance is the perfect refreshing scent, and is a real head turner.

Victoria's Secret Love Spell Fragrance Mist

Since the weather has warmed up, I decided to mix up my fragrance to my go-to summer fragrance. Love Spell is a delightful mix of cherry blossom and peach. When I visited Tokyo, I felt like the entire city smelt of Love Spell, so it brings back wonderful memories for me, too. This is an all-round flattering scent.

2015 Favourites - Sweetaholic Beauty

Toni & Guy Nourish Reconstruction Mask

2015 was definitely the year of the hair mask for me. I tried out a fair few hair masks and totally fell in love with how healthy and nourished it made my hair feel. The Toni & Guy mask has made it into my regular rotation, and I use it at least once a week. My hair has never felt better - oh and it smells amazing. You can read my full review here.

Lady Jayne Salon Professional Paddle Brush

Despite loving my hair, I'm pretty bad when it comes to my hair brushes. I have an entire drawer full of brand new brushes, yet up until this year I had used the same one for years. Naughty, naughty. I've been using this awesomely huge paddle brush for a while now and I'm loving how smooth it makes my hair look. Definitely a favourite.

This year has probably been the hardest year of my life - but I made it through. Picking my favourites for another year was another pretty difficult task, but I had fun. Here's to 2016 - hopefully we'll be welcoming a lot of new favourites. You can read my 2014 Favourites here.

What products made it into your 2015 Favourites? Have you tried any of the above products - what are your thoughts?
