Top Instagram Tips - Sweetaholic Beauty

With Instagram threatening changes to the feed algorithm, I thought I might share some of my top Instagram tips. I've had a few people ask me how I take my photos, when I upload and what kind of hashtags I use.

Ensure you only upload clear and bright photos. At the end of the day, this is the most important thing you can do. It doesn't matter what time of the day you post, or what kind of hashtags you use - if you are uploading good quality photos, you will certainly start getting attention. Personally I use my DSLR and then edit my photographs slightly on Photoshop. Whilst this is a lot of work, I've found the quality of my photographs has really increased. If you are using a smart phone, there are a lot of different apps you can download to help tweak the lighting and quality of your pictures.

A lot of people wonder how often they should be posting, too. Some people post once a day, some people post more than three times a day. My top tip, regardless of how often you upload, is to take as many photos in advance as you can. Edit ahead of time and make life easy for yourself.

Learn your best uploading time. When are your followers most active? When do you tend to get the most likes and activity on your pictures? Once you figure this out, you can set yourself an uploading schedule. There's no point in uploading your photograph when nobody is active, otherwise your picture may be missed on your followers timelines. This can take a while to figure out, but once you've mastered it, you'll see a huge difference.

Use relevant and popular hashtags. Personally I love my hashtags, and I find them the best way to get attention for my photos. I don't think there's such a thing as using too many hashtags - providing they are relevant to your photo. There's no point in tagging your photo #maccosmetics if the photo doesn't contain any MAC products. Search through the hashtags you investigate how popular they are, and experiment until you find hashtags that work best for you.

These are just a few of my tips to help keep your photos in the spotlight on Instagram. Even without the proposed changes, the average Instagram user will only see 30% of their feed due to the sheer number of photos and videos uploaded every day. If you want to be in that 30% then you need to do everything you can to make sure your photos are noticed.

I've found the above tips to be really helpful for my own account, and hopefully you find them helpful too. Do you have any tips or hints to help your Instagram get noticed?
