The MooGoo 28 Day Natural Deodorant Challenge*

The MooGoo 28 Day Natural Deodorant Challenge - Sweetaholic Beauty

A little over a month ago, I was approached by one of my favourite Aussie brands - MooGoo Skincare - who asked if I would be interested in taking their MooGoo 28 Day Natural Deodorant Challenge. I actually learnt a little bit about their natural deodorant back when I attended their Bloggers Luncheon in Melbourne, however, the idea of switching over sounded a bit too daunting for me at the time, so I gave it a miss.

But when MooGoo sent me some information about their natural deodorant again and the differences between their product and regular deodorant, I was convinced to give it a go.

The scariest thing about most regular deodorants and antiperspirants is that they actually contain aluminium, which is actually used to block your pores to prevent sweat. Sweat is  a natural function, and although it may smell bad sometimes, it needs to be released. So, why are we trying to keep that inside of us? Kind of gross when you think of it like that. There has also been a study undertaken to discover whether there is a link between regular on the shelf deodorants and antiperspirants and breast cancer. While there is no concrete link, the studies are looking a little scary.

At the end of the day, though, switching to natural deodorant is a pretty personal choice. I decided to go natural as I would rather not have my pores clogged by something potentially dangerous.

My favourite thing about this deodorant is that it's a roll on. I have nothing at all against sprays but my preference is to roll on all the way. It's discreet and easier. This particular deodorant is very wet, but it does dry pretty quickly so best to wait for it to dry before putting clothing on.

Although some of the ingredients might be hard to understand, they do try to list them as simply as possible. Everything is looking pretty natural too, which is great.

But more importantly, how did I go?

The first couple of days were the hardest. The smell was ridiculous and I felt absolutely disgusting. I wasn't particularly sweating more, but the smell was there. My partner insisted he couldn't smell anything, but I feel like he was just trying to be nice.

After the next few days, the smell went away and I honestly felt like I was just using regular deodorant. I didn't really notice any excess sweating. After a few weeks, I was entirely used to natural deodorant. Occasionally I will feel like I'm sweating a little more than usual, but it's not uncomfortable at all.

My final verdict... I'm convinced to make the switch to natural deodorant. Luckily I have another tube of this stuff, as I'll definitely be needing it come summer. I'm really happy I decided to make this change.

Have you ever tried natural deodorant before? If so, what are your thoughts? Would you ever consider making the switch to natural deodorant?
