Rimmel London Apocalips *

One of my all time favourite drug store brands is Rimmel London. Ever since I discovered my love of beauty, Rimmel London has been a faithful and cost effective brand! I've always been in love with their products (in particular their lip products!) and I've never tried a product from them that I don't like!

Now they've finally released their new lip laquer the Apocalips in Australia! (Known as the Rimmel London Show Off Lip Laquer in the US.)

If you are any kind of beauty enthusiast, then you'll more than likely have already read a million and one reviews on the Rimmel London Apocalips. I'd say that the beauty world is about 50/50 right now. Some of us love them, some of us hate them. Some common complaints I've heard is that the Apocalips smell bad, or that they lay on the lips and look bad, or that the colours just aren't that great. Some of the beauty community are a little peeved that Rimmel decided not to give us a true red - as in the UK they released Big Bang which is a gorgeous red colour. (I am fortunate enough to own Big Bang thanks to a blog swap!) Either way, I'm hoping Rimmel decide to eventually let us have the other colours available in the UK!

Swatches!

From left to right: Stargazer, Nude Eclipse, Phenomenon, Solstice, Celestial, Nova, Apocaliptic, Stellar

As you can see, a lot of the colours are fairly similar. We have some really gorgeous nudes, ranging up to some pretty wearable pinks, and then further up to some crazy brights. I actually really love the colour range, but I would love to see more colours eventually!

In terms of the Apocalips themselves, I am in love with them. The Rimmel Apocalips come with a doe-foot applicator, which does make it a lot easier to apply. I usually scrape all the product off and then apply so as not to get that "caked on" look that some people have been disliking about the product! They dry semi-matte and feel extremely comfortable on my lips! I personally had no problems with the smell, in fact I didn't even notice a smell until somebody else mentioned it to me, and even then I didn't really notice too much!

I did find sadly, that they do bleed a little bit and a lip liner is essential if you decide to wear these out of the house. This brings me to my awesome idea that I really hope Rimmel London steal from me - please bring out Apocalips Liners! Match the colours, so then we can use the matching liner with our chosen colour! How amazing and awesome would that be? If Rimmel did decide to go ahead with that, I'd be a very happy lady!

Now... onto my favourites!

(I did have lip swatches of every single colour, but I realised that most of them were blurry due to the bad weather of late, so I decided to just take shots of my favourites!)

Nude Eclipse

Nude Eclipse is such a gorgeous nude that is really wearable! While this can looked really caked on if you wear too much of it, if you thin it out, it looks amazing! This is a perfect day to day look!

Nova

Nova is a playful pink colour, which isn't too bright but is also on the fun side of things! This one is really easy to wear, but I would recommend wearing a lip liner with it for added comfort. While I found it didn't bleed or feather too much, it's not something I want to keep checking if I'm out and about, so a lip liner definitely fixes that up. I really love how creamy and shiny this looks, without being sticky!

Stellar

Stellar is one of my favourites! It's the closest we have to a red, but it's more of a neon pink, which is just fantastic! I'm loving neons at the moment, especially in winter, and I'd really love if it Rimmel came out with a neon range for the Apocalips! How amazing would that be? This one definitely needs a lip liner, as it goes all over the place if you decide to touch your lips! Trust me, lip liner!

Overall, I'm a real fan of the Rimmel London Apocalips. I can understand why some people don't like them, as this is definitely not a product to please everyone. But as a huge Rimmel London fan, this definitely pleases me! I'm one of those girls who honestly doesn't care about wearing crazy coloured lipsticks, so this works really good for me. For those of you who are a little shy when it comes to your lips, I'd probably pass. (Even on the nude colours!)
If you love lips, and you love bright colours, then the Apocalips are definitely for you! I'd recommend giving them a go, at the very least, as they are definitely a unique and lovely product!

Have you tried the Rimmel London Apocalips yet? If so, what did you think?
