Salon Melbourne Preview

sm15-logo-v3-216x200

The last two years I've attended Salon Melbourne, I've been blown away. For those of you who don't know, Salon Melbourne is an industry only event for all things hair and beauty. I was lucky enough to be able to attend as media, and I was delighted to discover how amazing the day actually is. Not only are there loads of vendors selling their goods at expo prices, but there are lots of free and paid for exhibitions and extra events.

Usually entry to the expo is free, but this year there has been a small increase to $15 a ticket, which will cover you for the both days. After seeing what's in store for this year, the price increase is definitely justifiable. This year will play host to a list of amazing special guests, including Lorna Evans, Rae Morris, Gina Liano and so many more. They will all be showcased on the main stage, which is accessible with a general admission ticket.

There will also be a huge increase in brands attending - which means amazing products and rock bottom expo prices! Some brands include Inglot, Klara Cosmetics, Makeupnet Australia and so many more!

Here's a quick highlight of the previous years I've attended!

Maybelline Colour Show Bleached Neon Nail Enamels*

neon1

Neon is truly perfect in summer, and what better way to show off those bright colours than with a brand new manicure. When I was given the chance to try out a few colours from the Maybelline Colour Show Bleached Neon Nails range, I was delighted to say yes. I was sent three gorgeous shades to try out, each more stunning than the last.

neon2

Tropink, Sun Flare, Chic Chartreuse

What I loved about the Bleached Neon range is that the colours are bright, yet are not blinding. They have a pastel element to them, making them really unique and beautiful shades. I instantly fell in love with Chic Chartreuse, as I don't have anything like this in my collection at all.

Valentine's Day Look with Sormé Cosmetics*

SO1

Happy belated Valentine's Day everyone! This look is a little overdue as I've been a little bit sick recently, but I've finally gotten around to editing the photos and uploading.

As you probably guessed, one of my favourite colours is green (the hair totally didn't give you any hints) so I was really inspired by this gorgeous colour for my Valentine's Day look.

I was sent some amazing products from brand Sormé Cosmetics, which is a brand I had not heard of before, so I was excited to try them out. I was originally supposed to try out their products for a Christmas look, but I ended up having trouble with my camera and photos, so I decided to just redo it for Valentine's Day!

SO2

I decided to stick with a softer look this Valentine's Day. Sweet lips and a subtle smokey eye. I used the Sormé eyeliner in Black Jade which is a stunning deep green on my upper lid and lower lash, which blended well with the Sugarpill shade Subterranean. I also highlighted the lid and inner eye corner with some of the shades from my Urban Decay Naked palette. The Sormé Extreme Volumising mascara gave me the perfect fake lashes look.

Burt's Bees Lip Balm Gift Set*

BL1

A little while ago, when I hosted the Sparkling Soiree event, we were sent a gorgeous Burt's Bees gift set to give to all the attendees. I ended up with one as well and I've only recently gotten around to actually using it. The gift set comes with three random lip balms and a beautiful little pouch to carry them all in. I've had a hard time finding this set online, so it may have been a limited edition kit.

BL2

A adore the little coin pouch. It's the perfect size for a few coins and a lip balm. It's also big enough for me to put a few credit cards in as well, so it would be a great little pouch to take to a party to slip into your clutch.

Priceline Hair Care Goody Bag

PL1

Priceline has to be one of my favourite and most frequently visited stores. (For those of you unfamiliar with Priceline, it's Australia's leading "drugstore.") One great thing about Priceline is that they offer some amazing deals, one of their best being their free goody bag deals that the hold every year. In February last year, they held a free Hair Care Goody Bag with the minimum spend of $40, which is something they've brought back this year! This year's goodies came in a beautiful Model's Prefer bag, which is actually better than last years. You can see last year's bag here.

PL2

All the goodies that were included this month. According to the promotion, everything included this month was worth over $190 - which is pretty amazing.

Lush Valentine's Collection

L2

I'm a complete sucker for anything limited edition. Being the die-hard fan of Lush that I am, seeing this Valentine's Collection, I knew they all had to be mine. Sadly I didn't get to buy all of the limited edition products, but I definitely got most of them!

This years collection was full of reds, deep pinks and hearts. The perfect Valentine's Collection.

L3

Love Locket Bath Bomb
This is a complete giant of a bath bomb, but there's a reason for that. If you break this one in half, there is a cute surprise heart in the middle. This is enough for two baths too. As your bath bomb fizzes, it releases little hearts into your bath.

Lonely Heart Bubble Bar

This is bright red covered in a crazy amount of gold glitter. Luckily the glitter doesn't stick to your skin, so you don't have to worry about getting it everywhere. This one smells truly delicious with lemongrass, bergamot, jasmine and ylang ylang oils.

The Mystery Mascara*

MM4

A few days ago, I was sent a mystery mascara from Makeup Social to trial out. I love trying out mystery products, because it allows you to give a truly honest review, so you're not biased by any existing preferences. I was really excited to see that I received one of these in the post, because I have  sneaking suspicion I know who this mascara belongs to... but I'll speculate further on in the post, so keep reading!

MM1

I've been trialing this mascara for a few days now. Obviously I can't comment on the packaging, as it's completely unmarked for the moment. But I have high hopes for this one...

Bubble Bath Favourites

BB1

I'm a big fan of a good bath, but often find that I stick to the same products. I absolutely adore Lush products for my bath - but sometimes I really feel like spreading my wings and trying some different kinds of products. I share three of my favourite non Lush products to use in my bath!

BB2

My three favourites at the moment.

Nivea Stress Protect Clinical Strength Anti-Perspirant*

n1

My go to anti anti-perspirant is the Nivea Stress Protect. I've been using it since early 2013, and I haven't looked back. I was given the opportunity to try out the spray and the roll-on, but I much preferred the roll-on. Recently I was given the opportunity from Nivea to try out their new Stress Protect Clinical Strength Anti-Perspirant. Being that this is the same formulation, and it's a roll-on, I just had to try it out.

jan-emp1

I can't believe the first month of 2015 is already over! January has been a pretty difficult month for me, but I'm glad it's over. February is usually one of my favourite months - first my birthday, then Valentine's Day - what's not to love?
