January Lust Have It!

LHI1

Originally I wasn't going to review the January Lust Have It! box (that arrived on the 10th of February) but eventually I decided I should share my thoughts on delayed box.

I received my box in a normal post box, not the usual Lust Have It! box. Apparently the reason behind this is because LHI is going through another image change, despite the fact other January subscribers still received the usual box.

LHI2

The card was smaller than usual, and featured a teaser for the February box.

LHI3

The products for January.

LHI4

Aveda Dry Remedy Daily Moisturizing Oil

This is such a tiny sample, that I think most people with long hair will be lucky to get two-three uses. In saying that, I do enjoy testing new hair oils so this will be used. Thankfully this is not in a sachet!

LHI5

Invisible Zinc Tinted Daywear in Medium

At first I was excited to see this in my box, until I saw that it was tinted, and it was medium. I honestly don't know why they bother sending out products that are categorised in "light/medium/dark" because they are only pleasing potentially one third of their subscribers. I get that they try to include neutral products, but I feel this is the opposite of that.

LHI6

Simple Kind To Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes Sample Pack

I don't know why we get sample packs of these kinds of facial wipes, especially considering how cheap they are for the full pack. Either way, I always use wipes when I'm swatching makeup so these will come in handy.

LHI7

Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 8% AHA Gel Exfoliant

This is probably the product that will get the most use. I'll definitely give it a go, although I wasn't too keen when I first saw it. I've always wanted to try Paula's Choice though so this will be a good stepping stone.

LHI8

Paula's Choice Moisture Boost One Step Face Cleanser in Normal to Dry Skin

According to the card, I was supposed to receive the oily/combination skin version of this, which would have been much better for my skin. Normal to dry definitely won't do it for my skin. In saying that, I can't use this anyway as it arrived damaged, and the lid is faulty so I can't even open it. Lust Have It! offered to replace it, but there's really no point as I won't even use the product when I get it, so it would be a waste.

--

Overall, I was really disappointed in this box. Lust Have It! eventually made a statement apologising for the delays and whatnot, but it was all too late in my opinion. As an annual subscriber, I was really saddened to see that my box was sent out in the last cycle. Shouldn't the late subscribers be sent out in the last cycle, not the people who actually paid months ago? Most of the other boxes I have seen also had an extra product, so that was also a disappointment.

After my annual subscription runs out, I doubt that I'll resubscribe. The fact that I am left until last and am getting the "left over" products (or so it feels) makes it fairly reluctant to give over my money to them again. The February boxes have already begun to be sent out (and I note again that I am not in the first sent cycle) so I will reserve judgement to see if they can redeem themselves.

Just for a bit of comparison, check out what my friend Sophie got. She is a new subscriber, who pays month to month. (Not that anyone should get special treatment, but just so I can put it into perspective!) You can read about her box here.

Did you receive your January Lust Have It! on time? If so, what did you think? How does your box compare?

  1. Trust me, that tinted zinc is quite sheer. I find it too greasy personally, but you should def give it a go. I agree that the annual subs should be sent out first, they've had your money for a long time and you can't just opt-out next month. I hope your Feb box was one of the ones sent out yesterday.. you might be able to follow up this review with the next :)

    1. I tried it and it was pretty greasy! I didn't really like it.. it was a tad too dark, but if I was just wearing it for the sun protection I wouldn't really mind too much! I hope the Feb one arrives soon so I can compare :)

    2. maybe this is too cynical of me, but I wonder if they send it out to the month-to-month subs first because they CAN unsubscribe for the next month.
LHI's customer service seems to be shocking. I'm so glad I unsubscribed to them ages ago. Although I would love to try out that Paula's Choice chemical exfoliant, since I've been looking into buying it lately.

  2. This does seem like a disappointing box! Especially considering you got it so late! But that's how it goes with these boxes - it's hit and miss xx

    1. Usually I would just brush it off as the whole "hit and miss" thing but the fact that I'm an annual subscriber, it kind of rubbed me up the wrong way that my box was left until last. I'm trying not to be too negative about it, but it just annoys me :(

  3. I was quite happy with my box, even though i got a few different products to you and it was late. The Feb boxes should all be sent out by Wednesday this week, so it will be interesting to see how long they take.

I was subscribed to Glossybox ages ago and didn't like their products, so never wanted to resubscribe! I'm thinking of giving one a go! But here are some I found if you wanted to try it out :D http://www.lootcrate.com/ https://nerdblock.com/ http://www.bootybin.com/ !! Lmk if you try out any :) x

I'm already signed up to Nerdblock which I love.. I tried Lootcrate but it wouldn't accept my address for some annoying reason so I emailed them, never heard back boo! I might try again though! Bootybin is a new one though, definitely going to check them out!
And yes we're geeky pals hehe ;) Thanks hun xx

  7. I'm not even subbed to LHI, but in seeing what everyone gets, and the terrible experience my friend had from buying an item online from them (she bought a small item and they charged her $10+ to send it in the tiniest parcel ever) it just makes me dislike them. Ages ago I wanted to sub to them but I'm glad I haven't. I seriously think BB is better than them just the tiniest bit.

  9. It seems kind of...empty? I would be pissed too! You would think that having paid 12 months in advance that you would be one of the first people to receive their box, not the last! or in the following month!

I gave up on sample boxes after only a few months, I realised that I ended up with a huge collection of sachet samples that I probably never use and it seemed as time went on the boxes got less impressive. And yes I totally agree.. the amount of samples I have is just silly, I need to stop! And like you said, most of the stuff is pretty easily accessible!

  10. Sorry to hear about your experience :( if I could swap places with you, I would! I received the box as a press sample and got it around the 6-7th of the month and I felt bad that subscribers had not yet received theirs. I think this box is useful, but not the most exciting. I'm actually really over skincare! Throw in a bright lippy any day.

    1. Wow, that makes me feel really upset. (Not at you, don't worry!) I have been such a loyal customer with them for so long, and have brought them in a lot of customers being an affiliate. This isn't useful to me at all unfortunately, out of the products I got I will only be able to use 3 of them successfully. But yes, skincare is getting a bit much, lippy would definitely be more appreciated haha :)

  11. It is really disappointing, they send you broken cleanser which is not suitable for your skin type. Few days back I received email from LHI in which they offer their annual subscription for 150$. First I was interested to subscribe but when I read latest review of their boxes and how they treat their annual subscribers, I just changed my decision.

  13. I'm not subscribed to Lust Have It and I'm pretty glad I'm not. Aside from the fact that you got your January box in February it just doesn't seem that great in comparison to some of the other sample boxes on offer. I also think they should have a section where you can fill out your skin tone and type, just simple things like that so they can cater boxes to the person not just a general box for everyone because not everything works for everyone. (Lust have it annoys me and I don't even subscribe, I only read the unboxing posts.)
