Face of Australia Calypso Bay Nail Enamel Collection

Face of Australia Calypso Bay Nail Enamel Collection Review & Swatches - Sweetaholic Beauty

I love a good limited edition collection - especially when it's a limited edition nail enamel collection from Face of Australia. A little while ago they released their newest collection, Calypso Bay, and I knew they had to be mine. The collection features eight beautiful mirror shades, each colour more stunning that the last.

This collection came out just at the right time too. Winter blues were starting to sink in, so it was nice to escape away to a fantasy island paradise, even if it is just on my nails.

These shades were a tad difficult to photograph with my lighting, as they are metallic mirror finishes, so forgive me if I haven't shown you the true beauty of these babies.

Swatches: Rainforest Rendezvous, Blue Lagoon, A Mermaid's Tale, Pirate's Booty, Itsy Bitsy Bikini, Tropical Heat, Morning Mimosas, Summer Breeze

As you can see, all the shades are beautiful and bright. My personal favourites are Blue Lagoon, Morning Mimosas and Summer Breeze. I've shared a few manicures already over on my Instagram, and a few people have asked me about the slightly streaky finish. On my iPhone camera, it does show up as little streaky - more than likely because I've done a bit of a lazy manicure. When I've taken the time, like for these swatches, the streakiness has definitely reduced to almost none.

I'm really pleased with all of the shades, but feel like they could have added a peachy colour in place of Pirate's Booty, as it's such a bright shade and stands out among the rest. (Although it is a gorgeous gold so I'm really not complaining.)

As always with Face of Australia collections, I find the quality to be above average. Easy to work with, average manicure life time, and beautiful shades.

  9. I really wanted to love this collection but the effort required for a minimal streak finish is just too much for the pay off =[

I know that these types of shades aren't that popular anymore but I personally love them. I don't mind a "frosted" polish when they're this pretty. Thanks for the pretty swatches too. :)
