A little while ago I was asked if I wanted to try Not A Sponge, which is in a nutshell - a sponge. Okay, so it's not really a sponge. The Not A Sponge is made of the Konjac vegetable (I'm sure you've heard of the Konjac sponge before?) which means it's basically a 100% natural piece of vegetable, carved into the shape of a sponge, to use on your face.
That's right, you use this vegetable on your face. When I first received the package, I'll admit I was a little bit squeamish about it. I'm not sure why, but the fact that it was "natural" and not something man made had me feeling a bit weird - was it alive, would it move if I poked it?
When I first removed the Not A Sponge from the packaging, it was rock hard! The instructions say to run the Not A Sponge under warm water until it's completely soft, and then gently ring out the excess moisture. Once it became soft and squishy, I became even more squeamish! It felt a little bit like a normal sponge, but there was definitely something different about it!
After ringing out the excess moisture, rub the Not A Sponge on your face in small circular motions. Make sure your face has been fully cleansed first, otherwise your Not A Sponge will get makeup all over it! The moment it touched my skin, I was definitely in skin euphoria - which just happens to be their tag line!
Not only was the Not A Sponge ridiculously soft and gentle on my skin, it was also effective in it's exfoliating duties, and left my skin feeling absolutely amazing! Needless to say, my squeamishness was completely gone after this!
The Not A Sponge will then naturally become hard again once you hang it up to dry, which means it'll be ready to drench in water next time you want to use it! Every week, make sure you sterilise your Not A Sponge by soaking it in boiling hot water for 60-90 seconds to get rid of any nasty germs that might be lurking!

I'll definitely continue to use the Not A Sponge, and I'm super excited to try out their other ranges (Bamboo Charcoal for blackheads and Volcanic Power Puff to soften fine lines) and will be buying again!
Have you tried any "sponges" made from Konjac yet? If so, what did you think?
This sounds so cool! I want to try the one for blackheads!

DeleteThis looks like an interesting product. Do you use it with cleanser or on it's own?
ReplyDeleteI always cleanse my face first, and then use it on it's own! xx
DeleteThis looks really similar to a sponge we get in the UK called the Konjac sponge, I love mine :)
ReplyDeleteYep, Konjac is what it's made of, so I'd say it's pretty much the same thing! Glad you love it though! :) xx
DeleteWow, this looks cool. Do you think it'd be okay for sensitive skin?
ReplyDeleteThis is really natural so I think it'd be okay for natural skin! (Their website says it's even safe to use on babies - at least the body one is - so I can imagine it's very soft!) xx
DeleteWhat!? That's a plant!? That's crazy. It looks amazing though! Love the review, will be checking these sponges out. xo
