To not prime is a crime, so they say, so I decided to share a few of my favourite drugstore primers. All five of these are easily available and are relatively cheap. At first I was only going to share about three, but going through my collection I couldn't pass up sharing a few more.
I chose five primer to share with you; Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer, Australis The Original Primer, Rimmel London Stay Matte Primer*, L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Base and the Face of Australia High Definition Primer.
As you can see the Revlon is very creamy, and tends to give my skin a bit of a sheen after using it. The Australis looks a bit chunky but is easily blended in. The Rimmel London goes on white, which I love, and makes it easier to apply the right amount. The L'Oreal and Face of Australia are both see-through and fairly thick, but would be my picks of the bunch.
Overall I do love all five of these primers for different reasons. My absolute favourite does have to be the L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Base, which coincidentally happens to be the most expensive, but is certainly worth it. However all of these primers do the job, and do it well.
Have you tried any of the above primers? If so, what are your thoughts? Do you have a different favourite drugstore primer?
Which you recommend for a mix/oily skin?
ReplyDeleteI am awful when it comes to priming... there's 2 primers in my collection (rimmel and shiseido) and I rarely use them, such a crime!

I don't use primer all the time, only when I know I'll be wearing makeup all day. My current favorite is the Fix and Perfect from Rimmel. I've never tied the Rimmal Stay Matte though I heard a lot about it. I should try it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

priming is such an essential step in my routine, I can really see (and feel) the difference in make-up when I miss it/forget to put some on! My favourite drug store primer at the moment is also the L'Oreal one, it really makes make-up stay all day! I want to try the Rimmel one as well though as a fellow oily skin gal! xx

On a previous recommendation of yours, I actually got that FOA primer, but haven't had a chance to try it yet! Now I really want to!
ReplyDeleteOh really haha! Definitely try it, you'll hopefully like it a lot! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm the same. Before primer I never knew the difference but now, if I don't wear primer, my skin feels absolutely gross haha! xx
ReplyDeleteThat's fair enough! I find my skin doesn't like me very much if I don't prime anymore! I've tried the Fix and Perfect a few times but still playing around with it! xx
ReplyDeleteHahaha oh nooooo! As long as your skin doesn't hate you for it :P

Any of the above is really good for combination/oily skin because that's the type I have :) The L'Oreal one is great at keeping your makeup on all day and the Rimmel one is great to combat oiliness! xx
ReplyDeleteI've only just started using a primer in the last week and not sure I've noticed a difference yet but I do like the feel of it. I'm on the Rimmel Lasting Finish which seems to blend in pretty well.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite of the moment is The Body Shop Instablur, it's great at hiding pores and my forehead wrinkle D:

Thank you so much! I'm going to add them to my wishlist.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love that L'Oreal one too :) My favourite primer of all time is actually from the drugstore, weehoo! Max Factor Face Inifinity All Day primer, soooooooo gooood! Especially for oily skin (but I feel every skin type because most people would probably assume its awful for oily skin) x

Great recommendations! I too am in love with the L'Oreal primer. I also use it with the L'Oreal Base Magique on the areas where my pores look enormous. I've always thought the drugstore have some great primer alternatives - there's a few on your list I need to pick up! :)
