One of my dirty little secrets is that I never use a day cream. I know, it's terrible! I really shy away from day creams due to the fact that my skin can get super oily during the day - and that is not a good look!
I was asked the test out the Johnson's Moisturising Day Cream, so I decided it might be time to change my habits! I'd recently started using a night cream (before a few months ago, a night cream was unheard of in my house, due to the same problem!) so I figured a Day Cream might do me a world of good!
I've always
been a fan of Johnson's products, as they're a brand that you grow up
with - from bandaids to baby powder, they provided all the essential
products! So for me, Johnson's is a brand I'm familiar
and comfortable with!

I absolutely love the basic, simple design for this day cream. nothing fancy here, just a beautiful white tub of cream.
The cream itself smells delightful, and has such a pleasant and neutral scent that I can't imagine anybody every trying this and not liking the smell! (Think Johnson's Baby Powder smell!) I think the one downside of this is that it doesn't contain any SPF. I honestly don't have a problem with this, as I use my own SPF products when I need to, (although that's rare, as I work night shift, I don't need SPF except on weekends) so this is certainly not a deal-breaker for me.
When I first opened the jar, I was astounded by the amount of product! When I say it's packed in, I mean it's really jam packed! For a minimal price of $6.95, you get a whole 100ml of cream! That's a LOT of cream!
See, jam packed!
The cream itself has such a lovely consistency. It's extremely lightweight and absorbs into my skin within seconds, leaving me with a healthy glow rather than a shiny greased up finish! I love that this cream leaves behind no greasy residue, or any residue of any kind! More importantly - it hasn't broken me out! It's been a long time since I've used a day cream, especially a day cream that's done more good for my skin than anything else!
I only use the tiniest amount to cover my entire face, and I have no idea if I'll ever finish this tub! It's also really easy to spread over my entire face, so I don't need to keep piling it on just to make sure my whole face is covered!

Overall, I'm in love with this cream! I never thought a day cream could actually work for me, but I'm happy I've found such a neutral cream that works with my skin, instead of aggravating it! I think this is a great cream for my sensitive skin, as it didn't clog my pores or cause any breakouts, and helped keep my skin hydrated and clear! I would definitely recommend this cream, and for a pricetag of only $6.99, this is definitely one that I wouldn't pass up! I would repurchase - although I doubt I'll need to for a very long time!
Have you tried the Johnson's Moisturising Day Cream before? If so, what are your thoughts? Do you usually use a day cream, or do you too shy away from them?
This product was kindly provided for my consideration.
I don't normally use a day cream either because of my oily combo skin, but I do use a moisturizer :)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that really bugs me about creams in tubs, such as this, is the hygiene! I hate dipping my fingers in cream. :(
I have to agree, it is pretty annoying! If it wasn't in a tub it would be a lot better, definitely!
DeleteI don't use day cream either, mostly because I try to put as little on my skin as possible.

I only use a tiny bit as well!

Thanks for doing a review of a brand you would find in the supermarket or drugstore. I'm on a budget and really enjoyed reading about something I can actually afford to buy instead of a high end brand. BTW if you're looking for another affordable day cream to try I find the Neutrogena oil-free moisturisers to be great for that non-greasy but non-tight skin feeling.
ReplyDeleteIt's my pleasure, I love a drugstore brand just as much as a high end brand.
DeleteI'll have to give that one a go!
xx
I totally agree with Abigail! I hate using tub moisturisers but the ones that I have used have been great for my skin. Definitely will look into this one once I've finished up using all my sample creams haha!
ReplyDeleteYep, I have to agree as well! I'd like it a lot more if it wasn't in a tub, but oh well!

I used this cream for over 6 years when I was in highschool and afterwards too! Its such a good cream, but I didn't like the heaviness of it (I prefer moisturising gels nowadays) and the fact that its in a tub. My sister still uses it so I steal some when my face gets particularly dry :P
ReplyDeleteOhh good to hear you liked it at the time. I don't feel that it's particularly heavy, but each to their own of course :) everyone has different skin! :)

That seems like a great everyday cream to use! I might check it out myself!:)

Are day creams the same as moisturiser? o.O If not, I do use a moisturiser. And it has to be light because I can oil up too!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds delightful! I trust Johnson's products because they're so gentle and smell nice! :)
They are different, slightly! Day cream has less oil etc than a moisturiser, some people use one or the other, it's personal choice! (There's nothing wrong with using both or just one!)
DeleteYou should try it though, it's very gentle and light and it didn't make me oily at all! :)
xx
I used to use this ALL the time but because my skin was so dry, I needed something more thicker.
ReplyDeleteOhhh yes that's fair enough, I found this one to be very light so not best if you need a thicker application! :)

I want that dry shampoo so bad :)
