Products To Use When You're Sick

sick1

Last week and part of this week, I've been pretty ill. When I went to the doctor, they told me it was my original infection that I actually took antibiotics for, and it's come back even worse. Needless to say, I wasn't thrilled. So, I'm on more antibiotics now and trying to recover. Being that I was so sick, I've avoided my makeup at all costs so as not to contaminate anything. But that got me thinking - maybe I should share what products I do use when I sick.

Just a few of the products I use when I'm sick to ease my pain and make myself feel halfway decent without the use of makeup.

Lush Parsley Porridge Soap*

This was actually a newer release from Lush that I've only just tried out, but I've come to really love it. When I get sick, I break out with a lot of body acne. This can be extremely frustrating, as not only do I feel ill, I also feel sore all over from huge pimples. I found that by using the Lush Parsley Porridge soap, I was soothed by the scent of tea tree, which also helped to calm down my acne. This is also an anti bacterial soap, which is also great for when you're sick. For a more in-depth mini review, you can check out this post.

Palmer's Cocoa Butter

Even though I get a lot of body acne (unfortunately it's mostly on my back and chest) the rest of my body is bone dry. My legs feel like sandpaper, so I usually like to use something extremely creamy and soothing. I usually opt for the cocoa butter because it reminds me of my younger teenager years when my mum was obsessed with this stuff, and so it was basically the only moisturiser we used. It's a comforting product both physically and mentally.

Biore Steam Activated Cleanser*

Even though I'm in the process of trying out a new cleanser, when I feel sick, I just want to go back to basics and use something I trust. This particular cleanser helps keep my skin as clear as I can get it, and is also a comforting product that I've used a lot in the past, so I know I won't get any nasty surprises. This works best when you use it in a hot shower or bath, which is perfect for when I'm sick. You can read a more in-depth (and rather old) review of this product here.

Lush Honey Trap Lip Balm

My lips get super dry whenever I'm sick, which is very annoying. I've always used Lush products on my lips, so it was no surprise that I loved this one when I tried it. Even though I'm not well, I still want to keep my lips feeling yummy. With white chocolate and vanilla honey, this is a delicious scent whilst still remaining neutral enough to use when I'm sick. Although this is in a little tub, which can be a bit unhygienic, I made sure to wash my hands each time before applying.

sick7

The Body Shop Deep Sleep Mist

I spent most of my nights tossing and turning, unable to sleep, despite being exhausted. A lot of it has to do with the coughing, the sneezing and the dreaded sniffles/blocked nose. Whenever I'm stressed, I always use The Body Shop Deep Sleep Mist to keep my calm, and it usually puts me to sleep really quickly. I used this when I was unwell to help calm me down and forget about how terrible I felt, and it really helped. With chamomile and lavender, I was feeling really relaxed with either a spritz on myself or on my pillow.

I hope you've enjoyed reading the products I like to use when I'm not well. I find that all these products really help make me feel at least a little more comfortable whilst I'm sick, so if they worked for me, hopefully they might help you next time you're unwell.

Have you tried any of the above products? If so, what are your thoughts? What's your favourite product to use when you're sick?
