2014 Favourites

2014-11

Happy New Year everyone! Welcome to 2015. This will be the third year I've done my yearly favourites, which is pretty exciting. Much like the first two years, I had a lot of trouble trying to decide on favourites to feature. Especially products that haven't been featured in the first two years.

2014-1

Lips

Shanghai Suzy Lipsticks

These lipsticks are amazing, and I can't believe I only found out about them late this year. The formula is stunning and the colours they come out with are just fantastic. My picks for this year were Miss Ally, Miss Bree and Miss Leah. You can check out swatches here.

Rimmel Provocalips*

Although these were only released very late this year, they really knocked a lot of people's socks off. Extremely long lasting, unbelievably comfortable on the lips, and won't budge a bit. If I hadn't tried these out myself, I wouldn't believe the claims. My picks for this collection are Skinny Dipping, Dare to Pink and Little Minx.

Revlon Colourburst Matte Balms

I ended up with the entire collection, and there's a good reason for that. Because they are so damned amazing! I'm usually not a huge fan of a matte finish, but I found these to be smooth and long lasting, plus the range of colours is just gorgeous. My picks this year were Striking, Elusive and Sultry. You can read my full review & swatches here.

2014-2

Face

Maybelline Matte Maker*

If you read my blog often enough then you'll know I'm a huge fan of the Rimmel London Stay Matte Finishing Powder, and I've always vowed I need look no further for a finishing powder. However, when I was sent the Maybelline Matte Maker, I decided to give it a go. Needless to say I'm now hooked on it, and it's become a great alternative to my usual routine. I have this in the shade Natural Beige which is a little darker then I would usually go for, but surprisingly it works well.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation

I'd seen this foundation everywhere on the blogosphere but was always hesitant to try it out. When I found it on sale at the Heat Warehouse Sale, with only my shade available, I decided to give it a whirl. I was excited to find this truly did live up to the hype, and so it's very quickly made it's way into my regular rotation. I have this in shade Ivory.

Rimmel London Matte BB Cream*

I mostly dislike Western BB creams, because majority of them are glorified tinted moisturisers and don't exactly do what they say they will. When I received the Rimmel London Matte BB Cream, I disregarded it almost instantly without even trying it. Once the weather started to warm up I decided to give it a go, and I was completely surprised at how well this worked for me. Long lasting, with maximum coverage; this was perfect for my skin. I have this in shade Light.

2014-3

Eyes

Chi Chi Gel Liner

I picked up this a few months ago, as it contained a few colours that I thought would be fun to have a play with. The shade Lo Cal Chocolate quickly became a favourite to use on my waterline. I find it to last all day long, as well as smudging effortlessly to help create that smokey-eye look without the hassle. You can read my full review here.

Eye of Horus Liquid Liner

Back when I attended Salon Melbourne, there was an Eye of Horus stand. Fast forward a few months and I decided to give the black liquid liner a whirl. Needless to say I was pretty pleased with the result, as this quickly became my go-to liquid liner for majority of the second half of the year.

Rimmel London Wonder'full Mascara*

A lot of bloggers were trying this mascara out and raving about it, so when I was given the opportunity to try it as well, I got pretty excited. This mascara, at first, does not seem like anything special. It's not something I would wear for a special occasion. This is a mascara that I would use for day to day usage - it's non clumpy, it's black and it lengthens and holds curls. It gives me My Lashes But Better; lashes that don't look fake and big and beautiful, but lashes that look gorgeous and perfect. This is your every day Holy Grail mascara.

2014-4

Palette

Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette

This was a fairly obvious choice. I'll jump on pretty much anything Too Faced releases as they are my absolute favourite brand, but when the Chocolate Bar palette was released, the beauty world was in a frenzy. Not only does this gorgeous chocolate looking palette actually smell like chocolate, it also contains some amazing and fantastic shades. Already I'm seeing my favourite bloggers hitting pan on some of these shades. This was a must-have for me.

Chi Chi Nudes Palette

I couldn't pick just one palette, so I'm giving a very special mention to my absolute favourite go-to palette. I use this palette every day, the shades are pigmented and long-lasting and the selection is excellent for creating the perfect nude look.

2014-5

Cheeks

Illamasqua Sculpting Powder Duo*

I'm not usually one for contouring, but this duo makes it so easy. The second darker colour is my favourite of the two, it blends like a dream and makes my skin look beautiful.

Inglot Custom Blush Palette

Another product I picked up at Salon Melbourne, and one of my favourites. I particularly like the third shade, as you can probably see from the usage!

2014-6

Beauty Tools

H&M BB Cream Brush

I was sent this in a beauty swap, and at first I was hesitant as I don't usually use BB creams. However when I started using it for lighter foundations, I realised it was amazing. Now I pretty much use it for everything and I'm in love. I haven't found it stocked in the Melbourne H&M yet, as I'd love to pick up a few more as backups.

Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove

I know, I know, there's about a million dupes of this product out there. But I decided to just buy straight from the source and stick with Sigma. I actually received a sample sized one of this; once I tried it, I was sold.

2014-7

Nails

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel*

I was lucky enough to be sent a bunch of these to try out. Firstly, the colours are absolutely gorgeous. My favourites were Sugar Fix, B Girl and Blacky-O. The idea of having a gel polish without the UV light is just awesome, all you need is the Miracle Gel Top Coat and you're set. I found this worked incredibly well and lasted ages, so it's well worth the investment.

2014-8

Skincare

Dirty Works Buff Your Stuff Body Scrub*
I've tried a few of the Dirty Works scrubs, and actually thought one of the others was my favourite. Once I started using the Buff Your Stuff scrub, I was really impressed with it. It's so scrubby and gritty, yet extremely moisturising. You can read my full review here.

Lush Dream Cream Hand and Body Lotion

This has been a huge favourite of mine this year. I have extremely dry skin, and not a lot seems to work for me. Once I tried Dream Cream, I knew I had found my skin savior. I use this all over, and it works wonders!

2014-9

Fragrance

Chi Chi Eau de Parfum
I love my perfumes, and have to say I have a huge collection. I used to be a bit of a fan of Chi Chi perfume sprays, but was never really sold on them as they were just in a spray bottle. But since Chi Chi decided to turn them into full blown perfumes, I was really excited. I decided to grab the Peach and Mango fragrance, and ever since I've been using it almost every day!

2014-10

Hair

John Frieda Intense After Colour Conditioner

I've always used John Frieda Foam Precision to colour my hair, and I've always saved up the little conditioner bottles inside the boxes. Since John Frieda released their awesome conditioner as a full sized bottle that you can buy as a stand alone, I haven't use anything else.

Remington Perfect Curls 2-1*

I don't curl my hair all that often because it's such a pain to do. When I tried the Remington Perfect Curls, I realised how easy it could be! I usually burn myself when trying to curl my hair, but this curler makes that practically impossible. Needless to say I'm curling my hair a lot more often these days.

This has been an incredibly long and hard year, so decided on my favorite makeup products was tough but fun. There have been so many amazing new products this year, and I had so many fantastic opportunities. Blogging wise, I think I had a pretty good year - but here's to 2015!

Have you tried any of the above products? If so, what are your thoughts?
